Robert over at POW in CA posted a link to the funniest site! I had a great time playing with it, so I thought you all might like to check it out too:

The Barack Obama Inauguration Speech Generator!

What is it, you ask? It’s just like madlibs, except it’s made especially for people who are mad at liberals!
Just follow the instructions, put in a few choice adjectives, verbs, and nouns – be sure not to forget all the hope and change! – and you’re good to go. It’s just that simple! Finally this explains how all those toolerrific 20-somethings have gotten hired to be Obama’s speechwriters, despite being idiotic enough to post compromising photos of themselves on Facebook. One more mystery solved!
If you’d like to see the speech I came up with, click “More.” Honestly, I’m quite proud of it! :)

Hooray! We’re Respected Again!

Wasn’t it one of Obama’s campaign promises that if we elected him, we would regain the respect of the International community that we had supposedly somehow lost? Well, I’m sure convinced! Look at this, Japan loves us and totally respects us so much!

Ahhh, doesn’t that respect just feel so warm and fuzzy?! It’s like a return to the respect we received during Clinton’s administration, when they were selling Monica Lewinsky nesting dolls in Russia. Mmm, feel that respect! :)

A Merry Military Christmas

Hehe, so this kind of reminds me of that story I once heard of the soldier who had his photo taken with Hillary Clinton, but ended up flashing a hand gesture that was military code for “I’m under duress”. I guess these particular soldiers had heard about Obama snubbing their fellow uniformed men and women during his other various trips abroad. Check it out, courtesy Gateway Pundit:

President-elect Obama stopped by the Marine Corps base in Hawaii Kaneche Bay where servicemen and -women were eating Christmas dinner in Kailua Thursday evening.

“Just wanted to say hi, hey guys,” Obama said as he walked into the Anderson dining hall which was decked out in Christmas decorations.

The diners represented seven military units — Marine and Navy — some of whom were joined by their families for Christmas dinner.

As Obama entered the room, it was absent of the regular fanfare of cheering and clapping. The diners were polite, staying seated at their respective tables and waited for the president-elect to come to them to stand up.

Awesome! Very well done, soldiers, and Merry Christmas to you too! I am kinda sorry your Christmas dinner was crashed, though. I hope Santa was at least extra kind to you to make up for it. :)

I’m not a Republican, but this still made me laugh!

I received this funny poem from a Republican friend and I just have to share it. So with this, I’ll inaugurate my return to the blog after my little siesta from the news for the Thanksgiving holidays. Enjoy!

Election Day’s over,
The talking is done.
My party has lost,
Your party has won.
So let us be friends,
Let arguments pass.
I’ll hug my elephant,
You kiss your ass.

Hehe, hope that made you smile, no matter what party you belong to. I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things! There’s so much for me to get caught up on though… ah well. It’s at least nice to be back! I hope you all had a wonderful stress-free Thanksgiving!

Ewwwwww!

My friend Joey showed this picture to me earlier today and we decided it just had to be lol’d up. Here you go, but be prepared, you might want to keep an airsickness bag on hand.

Rahm Emanuel whispers sweet Marxist nothings into Nancy Pelosi's ear

Isn’t that just about the nastiest thing you’ve ever seen? Bleugh! What were they even doing?! Was he whispering sweet Marxist nothings into her ear or something? Teehee.
Of course, while I was trying to track that photo down again, hours after Joey showed it to me so I could post it here, I came across another one. Apparently this is a habit of Ms Pelosi’s. Check it out.

Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry gettin' it on

I’m SO tempted to start a little captioning contest for these. Hmm, maybe we could even make it a regular thing. Whaddya think? Have any ideas for other clever captions for either of these photos? If so, post ‘em below! If I like them, I’ll edit the photos to put your captions on them, then post them on the blog (with credit going straight to you, of course!) If it turns out to be popular, maybe we can do it again some time. Hey, maybe I can call it LOLbama! :)
Put your thinkin’ caps on, it’s time to come up with some captions!

I know a few of these guys…

Too funny, until you realize it’s too true, then it’s too sad.

C’mon, Move to Canada!

As someone who has actually spent a good amount of time in a liberal, socialist-inclined country, I’ve often thought how most American liberals would feel after experiencing things like socialized health-care, government-controlled media, and so on. Every time yet another actor says, “If the Democrat doesn’t win the white house, I’m moving to Canada!” I can’t help but think, “Okay, have fun!” If people really, really want to live in a socialist country that badly, there are plenty of them out there to choose from. Please, go there, see how you like it, see how long it’ll be before you’re dying to come back here after paying such high taxes, not getting seen by doctors, not being able to afford the cost of living, et cetera. There’s just no excuse, our world is so easy to get around in, it’s so easy to communicate over long distances in an instant, so why not? Why not go experience that and leave America as one of the last bastions on earth that’s free from socialism!
Well, apparently I’m not alone in that, because I just found this, and I laughed. Oh boy did I laugh! Check it out.

Now, I love Canada and all; mounties are awesome, hockey’s great, I love how polite they are, Cirque du Soleil is brilliant, I love the cold weather, and I’ve even heard that poutine is at least tolerable! I adore Canada and Canadians, but I can’t say I agree with their approach to government. But that’s peachy for them! I’m not Canadian, I wouldn’t dare to tell another country how they should run their government or how their citizens should elect their representatives! (*eye roll* I’m looking at you, rest of the world, with so many of you butting into our elections and telling us how we should run our country! I don’t do that to you, please don’t do it to me!)
But seriously, I just don’t get how people here could fight so hard for socialistic principles without really finding out what it’s really honestly like to live in a socialist country. You wouldn’t say pizza’s your favorite food without tasting it first, would you? Go on, experience it! Pay the crazy high taxes, go into the debt, deal with the unemployment, deal with the inflation, deal with the extensive government control of *everything*, try to get health-care when you really need it most (i.e. like me, when your life depends on it), and try to even make small choices outside the government-mandated social norms. Go see how much fun that is, then come back and see if you still want to fight for those same controls here.
Or hell, can’t we just at least keep one country on Earth for those of us who don’t want socialized everything? Please? You can have yours, the rest of us can have ours, and we can all share like nice grown ups, right?

Of course, it still baffles me how the majority of liberals I know have so little faith in government, absolutely distrust the system, some of them even downright cling to crazy conspiracy theories about government mind control. And yet these people want to hand the government even more control than it already has? Well knock me over with a feather, cause that just makes no sense to me whatsoever.

So anyway, the next time someone stamps their foot like a two-year-old and says, “That’s it, if I don’t get my way, I’m moving to Canada!”, I’ll be the first to hand them the application form. If you’re that unhappy, go try it out for a while and then tell me how you feel about it, k? :)

The Final Debate: My Reaction

I’m going to say at the outset here that my reaction to this debate isn’t going to be like my usual posts – there’s still a bit of the typical fact-based stuff in there that I usually try to stick to, but since this is my own personal reaction to the debate, there’s a whole lot more of my own opinion & personality in it this time. Partly because I actually got into this debate, but mostly because it’s now five o’clock in the morning, I haven’t gotten any sleep, I feel like crap, and I’m kinda cranky. :P I’m just not in the mood for a tit-for-tat fact checking of every statement. So I just want you to know that this won’t be as fair and balanced as usual, cause hey, it’s late and I’m feeling goofy, so I’ll be taking a few potshots & cracking a few stupid jokes. So consider yourself warned and be prepared! ;)
That said, click “More” to see my list of my favorite – and not so favorite – moments, in no particular order, other than the order in which I remember them.

The Capital’s Cutest Residents

I just found this Washington Post article and just had to share it. It’s a cute look back at the history of the squirrels who inhabit Washington, DC and the love they inspire as the city’s smallest, cutest, furriest special interest group. All these years that I’ve been living in Washington, DC and I had no idea our darling squirrels weren’t native! Maybe I’ll have to put together a little gallery of all the squirrel pictures I’ve gotten while wandering around downtown. My favorite squirrelly snapshot is of one of the black squirrels that are mentioned in the article; I found a super chubby one sitting on top of a bench at the National Cathedral, chowing down on his lunch, happy as could be. That image was my desktop background for months cause it never failed to make me dissolve into cuteness-induced giggle fits. Who knew those squirrels had such stories to tell!
Anyway, hope this made you smile, cause you’re gonna need it – I’ve been doing more research and eesh! Things suck! But for now, enjoy the squirrels. :)
